Nanotube by-products affect marine life

Pure single-walled carbon nanotubes do not have a detrimental effect on estuarine copepods – a type of small crustacean – according to a team at the University of South Carolina, US. However, the researchers found that by-products of the nanotube manufacturing process had a toxic effect on the organisms.
