• Reactive Nano Technologies has secured an additional $14.3 mn (€10.7 mn) in Series C financing. The company develops and manufactures NanoFoil – a reactive nanolayered material that enables the rapid joining of similar and dissimilar materials without incurring thermal damage.
• The state of Arizona, US, is seeking to establish representation in the Asia-Pacific region. The goal is to attract foreign direct investment to Arizona in a number of areas including nanotechnology.
• Arrowhead Research, a US nanotechnology firm with interests in anti-cancer drugs, RNAi therapeutics, carbon-based electronics and compound semiconductor materials, is to be listed on the Russell 3000 Index. Created in 1984 and updated annually, the list of 3000 firms is widely used by the investment community as a benchmarking tool.
• FEI, a provider of instruments for nanoscale imaging, analysis and prototyping, has introduced a wafer tool that integrates wafer-level scanning transmission electron microscopy sample preparation with ultrahigh resolution imaging. According to the firm, the Expida 1255S is the only instrument to offer these features in a single tool.

• Bourne Research is to publish a consumer's guide to MEMS and nanotechnology, which examines how these emerging technologies are being put to use. Last month, the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies claimed that nanotechnology is used in almost 500 everyday products.
