Nanomaterials get sorted
"Optoelectronic tweezers" have been used to separate nanowires according to their composition and size for the first time. The tweezers can effectively sort metallic from semiconducting nanowires and can even manipulate the position and orientation of the wires to make reconfigurable arrays. Such techniques will be crucial for making future nanodevices for real applications.
