Nanoclusters could be the new superconductors
A new class of high-temperature superconductor may exist. Vladimir Kresin of the Lawrence Berkeley Lab in California and Martin Jarrold of Indiana University, together with colleagues at the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics in Moscow, claim that they have found evidence for superconductivity in aluminium nanoclusters at 200 K. In comparison, the best high-temperature superconductors to date, the cuprate oxides, become superconducting at 138 K.
