SI Diamond looks at Applied Nanotech spin-off
SI Diamond Technology, US, says that it is considering the partial sale and/or spin-off of its Applied Nanotech Inc (ANI) subsidiary. The move is part of a drive to increase shareholder value.
ANI is developing applications in nanotechnology, such as carbon nanotubes, metallized nanoparticles, silicon nanocrystals and nanowires. The company says that it intends to leverage its patent portfolio and intellectual property through licensing agreements and revenue sharing. The company recently licensed a nanotechnology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst that has potential applications in displays.
SI Diamond is also looking at similar options for its Electronic Billboard Technology subsidiary, which specializes in digitized sign technology. SI Diamond says that the transaction may result in the creation of two publicly held companies or one publicly traded company with a minority ownership in the remaining privately held company. It expects to close one or more of these proposed alternatives “in the near term”.
