Responsible Innovation as a Business Driver
Boosting customer confidence by promoting responsible innovation
Responsible innovation is set to become a hot topic under the European Commission's forthcoming Framework Programme “Horizon 2020” as part of the EC's long-term vision of achieving “smart, sustainable and inclusive growth” within the European Community. In this context, “responsible innovation” usually describes those processes that help researchers understand the benefits and risks of emerging technologies early on in the innovation process and encompasses various elements including public engagement, risk management, life cycle analysis, ethical approval and regulatory aspects.
• How do we define “responsibility” in relation to innovation?
• To whom and for what?
• And what tools can we use to transform it from an aspiration to a practical reality?
In this focused one-day interactive workshop, leading experts in the field of ethical and sustainable development and corporate responsibility will:
• Examine the various initiatives on responsible innovation looming on the UK and European horizons.
• Offer guidance on ways to practice and demonstrate responsible innovation and to use it as a powerful business driver.
This workshop will be of interest to companies or organizations involved in innovation or in novel technologies, investors, financial institutions and insurers and others interested in the innovation process.
